Founded in 1996, the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham Cambodia) is an independent non-profit membership organization comprised of both American and Cambodian companies who share a connection to American commerce.
What the chamber is for
AmCham Cambodia is an accredited member of the US Chamber of Commerce and an active participant in the AmChams of Asia-Pacific (AAP).
As its core mission, the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham Cambodia) provides its members, large or small, multinational or individual, American, Cambodian or of other nationality, dedicated support and advocacy in fostering the success of legitimate business activities in the Kingdom.

We provide a platform to share commercial and operational best practices, promote the highest of commercial standards, and advocate for the interests of members with Cambodian and US policy-makers.
Five objectives, in their order
The five objectives are their own, taken from the about page where it introduces them as its Charter’s. The Charter itself is published as a document on its own page and is dated 2024; no clause of it is reproduced here, because the page serves the file rather than the text.

To promote the development of trade, commerce and investment between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Cambodia

To provide a forum in which AmCham members can identify and discuss common issues regarding their commercial interests in Cambodia.

To coordinate and facilitate interaction among Members, American business persons, persons engaged in business with U.S. businesses and other Americans interested in Cambodian business issues.

To provide information on how prospective U.S. or Cambodian legislation, regulations and other policies would affect business in Cambodia and with U.S. business entities.

To maintain relations with the United States Chamber of Commerce, AmChams of Asia-Pacific (AAP), and other chambers of commerce and other relevant bodies.

How the Board is elected
The Board of Governors as the chamber publishes it: an office, an employer and a portrait for every member, each portrait taken from the block on their own page that carries that person’s name. Two seats sit outside the elected board and are labelled as the chamber labels them.
AmCham’s Board of Governors sit for a two-year term and may stand for re-election at the end of their term. Governor terms are staggered, one year four seats are up for election, and the following year, the other five seats become available. Following each annual election, the Board elects officers: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer from among the sitting Board members. Terms for these board positions are one year.

What the chamber has signed, and with whom
Their own account of the agreements, and their own dated captions on the signings they photographed. The two lists do not match and are not made to match.
AmCham signed three significant agreements or Memoranda of Understanding in 2021. The first document was the Joint Work Plan with the US Embassy Phnom Penh, which identified four areas of cooperation to work on: US Business Promotion, Policy Advocacy, Encouraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Supporting Cambodia’s Female Business Community. AmCham then signed an MOU with Khmer Enterprise for enhanced cooperation in September 2021, and later signed an MOU with the Cambodian Association of Finance and Technology to support the Cambodian fintech sector and start-ups in the industry, to promote financial inclusion and social responsibility through the industry, and to raise awareness through entrepreneurship-oriented events and efforts. In 2022, AmCham signed an MOU with Aquarii BD (Cambodia) to enhance the understanding of the investment environment, business opportunity, and investment attraction to investors, businesses, associates, and experts who wish to invest and expand their business in Cambodia.

AmCham works with industry bodies, primarily the Government-Private Sector Working Group D (GPSWG-D) on Law, Tax and Governance, which is one of 13 working groups which was established to serve as a reliable dialogue mechanism for consultation between the Royal Government and the Private Sector on investment climate issues ranging from long range policy to day-to-day operations to encourage private sector initiatives.
